The story of the Nativity is a beautiful one. It has been retold since the beginning of Christianity to engender awe, faith and the promise that there are miracles in the most unlikely places. Of course there is a lot more that we can take from the story of Jesus (peace and blessings be upon him). 

Every prophet that served God , stood against injustice, poverty and oppression. Prophets faced terrible odds and were often marginalised with only the poor , sick and demented as followers.   

Sadly in modern times Christmas like Eid and many other religious celebrations has been reduced to little more than a food massacre, opulence and crass materialism. 

So I hope this Christmas while we enjoy our days off and having the family around we spare a few moments to remember what the story of Jesus (pbuh) was really about and maybe even act on some of his teachings.
